Follow these steps to apply to the ETSU online MBA program
We’ve streamlined the admission process for the MBA general online program. Follow these steps to apply.
Following are the admission requirements for the ETSU General MBA online:
- Complete the online application
- Domestic – U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents
- Global – Non-U.S. citizens/Permanent Residents completing the program outside the U.S.
- Pay a $55 (domestic)/$65 (global) nonrefundable application processing fee
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalent) with a 2.5 (domestic)/3.0 U.S. equivalent (global) minimum cumulative GPA or higher
- Submit transcripts from any institution(s) where a bachelors degree was/will be awarded and any institutions where graduate level work attempted (even if no degree awarded or in a different field)
- Domestic school - Unofficial transcripts are preferred for the initial application and should be uploaded during the submission process. If you are admitted using unofficial transcript(s), you will need to provide an official transcript (including proof of degree) for any unofficial transcript(s) provided during the application process by the end of your first semester.
- International school – Must have official evaluation which includes a copy of the evaluated transcript sent from a NACES member evaluation company, such as WES Course-by-Course iCAP, ECE Course by Course, or The Evaluation Company Course Analysis sent directly from the company to ETSU Graduate School
- Submit transcripts from any institution(s) where a bachelors degree was/will be awarded and any institutions where graduate level work attempted (even if no degree awarded or in a different field)
- GMAT scores of 450 or higher sent directly to ETSU from GMAT testing service
- A GMAT waiver is available for both domestic and international students who meet one of the following conditions:
- Completion of another graduate degree
- Bachelor's degree from an AACSB-accredited business program with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Bachelor’s degree from a non-AACSB-accredited business program with a 3.5 GPA or higher
- At least three years of post-undergraduate professional, full-time work experience. Candidates requesting a GMAT waiver for possessing at least three years of post-undergraduate professional, full-time work experience need to submit a CV or resume with their application
- A GMAT waiver is available for both domestic and international students who meet one of the following conditions:
- English Proficiency (if education outside the U.S.)
- Exempt if earned degree from U.S. institution by program start
- Exams
- TOEFL score of 550 (PBT), 79 (iBT) – Only official score reports accepted
- IELTS score of 6.5. Please arrange to have your official IELTS scores sent directly to ETSU Undergraduate Admissions or email your TRF number to [email protected] after submitting your application.
- PTE score of 53 – Only official score reports accepted
- Educated in English for minimum of four years at upper high school level or higher from a designated country listed here
- Will not be waived on application until acceptable official transcript evaluation received
- Employed in the United States for three years in an establishment(s) where all activities are conducted in English.
- Must provide a letter from the Human Resources department, or an authorized official, from each establishment certifying all activities are conducted in English and specifying dates of employment.

Applies the statistical tools of hypothesis testing and regression analysis to practical business problems.
ACCT 5150: Accounting Information for Decision Making

Encompasses a comprehensive study of accounting information and its uses by professional managerial decision makers. Topics include areas in financial and managerial accounting and components of consolidated financial statements, cost and variance analysis, and budgeting.
ECON 5180: Economics for Managers

Presents applications of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, tools, and principles as they relate to problems and decisions that confront managers of business and other organizations. Microeconomics topics include demand and supply analysis, production decisions, market structure, and input employment decisions. Macroeconomic topics include measurement of economic activity and performance, macromodels, economic policy, and international economic dynamics.
MGMT 5210: Operations and Technology Strategies

Provides a fundamental understanding of the strategic impact of decisions relating to the design, production, operation, control, and delivery of goods, services, and technology in organizations by using quantitative tools and qualitative frameworks. Applications and case analyses are used to study operational value and cost, materials management and distribution, management of technologies, and management for continuous improvement. Course topics include process planning, monitoring, controlling and improvement; project management; and supply chain planning, management, and analytics.
MGMT 5230: Strategic Leadership

Focuses on the leadership roles and responsibilities of strategic managers and top-level managers who are responsible for setting organizational direction, enrolling employee commitment, identifying and managing organizational core competencies, establishing supportive organizational cultures, and ensuring organizational integrity.

Explores the role of marketing in the development of organizational strategy. Topics include customer value creation, customer relationship management, international and domestic market opportunities and the competitive environment. Analytical tools and techniques will be introduced and applied in a variety of learning models to facilitate strategic marketing decisions.
FNCE 5430: Applied Corporate Finance

Applies analytical techniques to the firm’s investment, financing, and dividend decisions. Topics include capital budgeting, capital structure, short-, intermediate-, and long-term financing, asset valuation techniques, and introduction to finance theory and literature.

Provides students with limited technical backgrounds with fundamental knowledge required for further study in Data Analytics and Programming. Topics may include data modeling and structure, database query languages (SQL, NoSQL, and NewSQL), data transformation, and exploratory data analysis.
CSCI 5050: Decision Support Systems

Integrates data management, data visualization, and data modeling topics to expose students to model-based decision making. Prerequisites: CSCI 5000
CSCI 5460: Network and Information Security

A survey of concerns related to system security in a networked environment. Topics include threats to system security; common software vulnerabilities; tools for attaching system security; tools for defending system security, including cryptographic utilities; recovering from security episodes; and the ethics of incident response.
CSCI 5470: Cyber Risk Governance

Prepares students to take on leadership roles in assuring data and operational security in support of an organization’s mission using cyber risk management strategies. Topics include various cybersecurity plan drivers such as budgeting, forecasting, the role of the organization’s mission, and return on investment.

Explores industry standards and best practices used to assess organizational information security compliance, determine organizational information security maturity, and guide cybersecurity policy development and implementation.

Provides a basic theoretical and practical knowledge of marketing as applied to the health care industry. Emphasis is placed on the emergence of marketing’s importance in the health care industry, developing marketing information systems, and making marketing decisions in a health care context.

Examine marketing communications as a component in reaching and persuading internal and external stakeholders in health care. Examines strategic decision making driven by quantitative analysis. This course integrates data understanding, modeling, visualization, and interpretation with data driven decision making. Explores basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and search engine advertising. Topics include but are not limited to: search engines operation, consumer search, pay-per-click search, sponsored links, site optimization, social media and search engine metrics. Additionally, the course includes how SEO fits into a successful market strategy.
This course fulfills the Culminating Experience requirement in the MBA program.
MGMT 5800: Strategic Experience

Apply knowledge and skills developed in the graduate program in a realistic problem-solving environment. This capstone course is designed for provide M. B. A. students nearing the end of their program. MGMT 5800 is restricted to students in the program.
